Merrie LaPrade Obituary

“Merrie Shannon La Prade, Age 61, passed away on December 21st, 2023, in Newport Oregon. Born on October 1st, 1962, in Walla Walla Washington, she lived an extraordinary life marked by her boundless spirit of travel and adventure, remarkable creativity, and an immense capacity for love. Despite facing unbelievable hardships, Shannon’s resilience and strength shone through, always finding ways to cherish those around her. Her life was a testament to the strength and beauty of the human spirit.

Shannon was not only a cherished mother, wife, and grandmother but also a sister, daughter, and a friend to many. Her life was a canvas of vibrant experiences, reflected in her poetic nature and way with words. She was passionate about political activism and social justice rights. She often mentioned proudly, about participating in the fight for women’s rights in the 70’s. She dedicated herself to making a difference in the world. Shannon’s absence will leave an irreplaceable void, but her spirited passion and unwavering commitment to the people she held dear will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be profoundly missed, yet her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Shannon is survived by her three daughters Justice La Prade, Amanda La Prade, and Destiny La Prade and her three cherished grandchildren Katie Holt, Lilly La Prade, and David Shaffer. She was beloved by her siblings Patty Phillips, Sam Molesworth, and Martin Molesworth.

Shannon was more than a dedicated grandmother; she was a guiding light and a source of unconditional love and wisdom in their lives. Providing care, support, and joy, her commitment to being there for her grandchildren as often as she could reflected her deep love and affection. Equally, Shannon was a devoted mother, while raising her three children with Eric La Prade before his passing in 2006. Together, they were like two big kids, full of life and laughter. Her children will forever cherish the adventures and precious moments they shared as a family, a testament to the joy and unity she fostered.

A private scattering of ashes and burial will be held to honor Shannon's memory, attended by her closest family members. This intimate gathering reflects the personal and deep connections she fostered throughout her life.

As we say our farewells in this solemn moment, we are reminded of the endless love and warmth she brought into our lives. In closing, we hold dear the memories, lessons, and love Shannon bestowed upon us. Her spirit, though no longer in our midst, continues to guide and inspire us. We invite all who knew her to cherish their own memories of Shannon, as we collectively celebrate a life truly well-lived.”
